Real Estate Designations Explained - The Steller Group

Real Estate Designations Explained

What is this alphabet soup of acronyms following a Realtor’s name and title? Is it just real estate jargon? Well, just like other professionals, real estate agents can earn designations, certifications and credentials. They take on specialized training to increase their skills, proficiency, and knowledge in order to ultimately better serve their clients.

Why should it matter to you? The designations attained by your Realtor may impact you depending on your particular real estate needs. For example, if you need an agent who can help you downsize from the family home or transition to assisted living, you may want to work with a Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES). Agents holding this designation are trained to understand the specific needs of seniors and their families.  Or, if you are a first-time homebuyer, you may want to find an agent with the Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation. These agents are trained to work with buyers through every step of the process from mortgage application to closing.

The Steller Group functions from the philosophy that the best way to succeed is to discover what you love to do and then master it, which is why we do what we do! To set ourselves apart and advance the interest of our homebuyer and seller clients, our team has earned the following professional designations:

  • Seniors Real Estate Specialist
  • Accredited Buyers Representative
  • Certified Distressed Property Expert
  • Certified Negotiations Expert
  • Graduate, REALTOR Institute
  • Broker Price Opinion Resource
  • Seller Representative Specialist

Keep in mind, a Realtor can have all the designations in the world, but it doesn’t mean he or she has had the opportunity for the theories to encounter the real world. What matters most is how the education is applied to hands-on experience. Your outcome is directly dependent upon your agent’s capabilities as well as those of his or her staff. Asking for references, researching past client reviews and inquiring about his or her training are all helpful ways to ensure you are paired with an advocate on whom you can rely.

The Steller Group’s clients receive state-of-the-art marketing and negotiation strategy, home renovation planning and execution, certified representation for seniors, prescreened contractor and downsizing referrals and complimentary home staging. We are committed to putting clients’ needs first by offering trusted resources and caring service with integrity. Please contact us if we can be of any help—we’d be honored to be of assistance!
